Background
Armstrong et al. v. Bestway (USA) Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-02812-DMF, is pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona before Magistrate Judge Deborah M. Fine. Bestway agreed to a $2 million non-reversionary settlement fund to resolve claims that its AirJet and HydroJet spa pumps contain a defect that can cause them to overheat and ignite. Class members may choose between a cash payment of up to $75 (depending on the option selected and whether they already received a recall reimbursement) or a 1-year extended warranty on the replacement pump. The settlement also covers reimbursement for those who previously paid to repair or replace a pump due to the alleged defect. The Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for September 22, 2026.
