Background
This settlement stems from Hasson v. Comcast Cable Communications, LLC (E.D. Pa. No. 2:23-cv-05039-JMY), over an October 2023 cybersecurity incident in which a third party gained unauthorized access to Comcast customers' personal information; affected customers were notified around December 18, 2023. Under the deal Comcast agreed to establish a $117.5 million settlement fund covering cash payments, reimbursement of documented out-of-pocket losses and lost time, and the cost of identity-defense and restoration services, while denying any wrongdoing or violation of law. Class members can either claim reimbursement for losses and lost time or take an alternative cash payment, and every class member is separately eligible to enroll in identity-defense services once the settlement is final. Kroll Settlement Administration is handling the claims; the deadlines were extended and the final approval hearing was rescheduled to August 5, 2026.
