Background
A proposed class action settlement has been reached over a targeted cyberattack on Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport's (OLHS) computer systems that occurred in October 2025 and allegedly compromised patients' private information in the Regional Urology and Ochsner LSU Health Data Incident. OLHS denies that it did anything wrong and the Court has not decided who is right. According to the official settlement website and its FAQ, class members may claim one year of medical monitoring through CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which includes $1 million of medical identity theft insurance, and/or reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses up to $5,000.00, or instead claim a one-time $40.00 alternative cash payment. The notification mailing went out 8/17/2026, the opt-out and objection deadlines are October 16, 2026, the Final Approval Hearing is set for October 19, 2026 at 9:30 a.m., and Claim Forms are due no later than November 16, 2026. Class Counsel will ask the Court to approve $265,000.00 in fees and costs.
