Background
A proposed class action settlement has been reached in the Steel Warehouse Data Incident Litigation (Cause No. 71D04-2508-CE-000011, Indiana Commercial Court in St. Joseph County) over a targeted cyberattack on Steel Warehouse's computer systems that occurred in January 2025 and allegedly compromised private information. Steel Warehouse denies that it did anything wrong and the Court has not decided who is right. The official settlement website states that class members may claim a one-time $40.00 cash payment, or instead claim reimbursement of documented out-of-pocket losses up to $5,000.00 and up to three hours of lost time at $20.00 per hour ($60.00 maximum), plus credit monitoring with $1 million of financial fraud insurance. Notification mailing went out 8/3/2026; the opt-out and objection deadlines are October 2, 2026; the Final Approval Hearing is set for October 21, 2026; and Claim Forms must be submitted no later than December 1, 2026.
