Background
Plaintiffs in the case allege Honda knew about the AIS No-Restart issue and continued selling the affected vehicles anyway, seeking to recover the economic loss tied to that alleged defect. Honda disputes the claim, arguing that a software update and warranty extension it had already rolled out adequately addressed the concern before the lawsuit was resolved. Under the settlement, dealers are also required to drop a prior requirement that owners reproduce or verify the no-restart symptom before qualifying for a covered repair. The warranty extension itself varies by vehicle: owners of the 2015 Acura TLX get 24 months of added coverage, while other qualifying models get 18 months.
