🚦 McGrath v. Suffolk County Red-Light Camera Administrative Fee Settlement

The lawsuit alleged that Suffolk County imposed an unlawful $30 administrative fee on top of the fine for each red-light camera violation from April 1, 2013 onward.

All persons or entities who, between April 1, 2013 and the present, paid a $30 administrative fee to the County Defendants for red-light camera program violations.

McGrath v. Suffolk County, et al., Index No. 608155/2016, Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Suffolk. The lawsuit alleged that, from April 1, 2013 to the present, the County Defendants imposed an unlawful $30 Administrative Fee on top of the fine for each red-light camera violation. The defendants deny the allegation and any wrongdoing. If approved, the defendants will pay up to $45,000,000 for cash payments to Settlement Class Members who file Valid Claims, and will separately pay administration expenses, court-approved attorneys' fees and costs, and a Class Representative award. Claim Forms must be submitted by December 8, 2026; the deadline to exclude yourself or object is November 9, 2026. Settled through Kroll Settlement Administration LLC; class member IDs are available from the administrator.
