Background
A court-authorized notice was issued in late September 2026 in In re: Amazon Return Policy Litigation, pending in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The lawsuit alleges that Amazon returned, refunded or re-charged customers incorrectly on certain returns, and that those practices violated Washington's consumer protection and other laws. Amazon denies any wrongdoing and denies that it acted improperly or unlawfully, but has agreed to pay $309.5 million into a non-reversionary settlement fund and to complete previously unpaid refunds. The settlement is administered by Angeion Group; the final approval hearing is scheduled for March 16, 2027.
